We The Free (WTF) is a passionate animal rights organization dedicated to promoting veganism and ending animal agriculture. Our mission;

Position Overview

As a Volunteer Creative Content Writer at We The Free, you will play a key role in writing in-depth and captivating articles that effectively communicate our message. While brainstorming with the Media team, you will contribute your articulateness to produce fact-based articles, blogs, and related writing to be featured on our website, reports, and research material. Your compelling content will provide you the opportunity to educate, inspire, and advocate for meaningful change on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content creation: Crafting compelling narratives about animal sentience, exploitation, and the significance of activism that grab the attention of our audience.

  • Topic ideation: Bringing in innovative ideas to the team by staying updated on current events, industry trends, and emerging issues relevant to our mission.

  • Research: Gather data and resources that ensure the content is accurate, credible, and based on reliable sources.

  • SEO optimization: Implement SEO best practices to optimize the content with relevant keywords and meta tags to maximize organic visibility.

  • Editing and proofreading: Review and edit blog posts for clarity, coherence, grammar, and spelling to adhere to our editorial standards and brand voice guidelines.

  • Content promotion: Collaborate with the media team to promote blog content through social media, email newsletters, and other channels.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the content team, including designers, editors, and writers, to enhance blog posts with multimedia elements.

  • Feedback and revisions: Incorporate feedback from team members and make revisions as necessary to meet project requirements.

  • Timely delivery: Complete assigned tasks within agreed-upon deadlines.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Critical thinking and ideation 

  • Exceptional writing skills with a keen eye for detail and storytelling

  • Strong research skills and ability to articulate effectively

  • Proficient in content management platforms (e.g., Google Docs, Trello,etc)

  • Diverse portfolio showcasing a variety of writing styles and publications

  • Knowledge of SEO principles and best practices

  • Passion for animal rights and alignment with We The Free's mission

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment

  • Excellent communication skills

Time Commitment

This is a volunteer position, and we appreciate any time you can dedicate to supporting our cause. The time commitment can be flexible based on your availability and the needs of ongoing projects.

Financial Compensation

This is a voluntary position, with potential for future paid roles. Almost every paid member of the WTF team started as a volunteer initially! (Of course, a future role cannot be guaranteed)
