WTF recently surveyed over 1,100 animal rights activists from around the world. Collectively, activists voiced what they needed to be the most effective advocates for animals. The WTF team took all of those responses and built an organizational culture that revolves around positive recognition, leadership training, empowerment, communication and feedback. Check out our values and let us know what you think.
None of us are perfect, so if you feel that any WTF community member has violated any of WTF’s core values (even unintentionally), feedback is always welcome. If you are not comfortable approaching that person, speak with your local organizers. For any serious breaches of WTF’s values, please email hr@activism.wtf. The well-being and safety of our community is our top priority.

The best thing that individual activists can do to support WTF is to join a team or start your own and help us to advocate on behalf of the most oppressed beings on the planet. You should also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and join our mailing list at the bottom of this page.
As a non-profit, we rely entirely on fundraising to cover our operating costs such as grant applications and private donations.
We are not asking our volunteers to fund organizational operating costs with donations and even our branded merch is sold at a price which barely covers the unit price and associated taxes.

We The Free was born as a result of 1,100 activists expressing the type of support they lacked and needed to be successful. Now, we have the ability to get real feedback on the activism that we do. We designed an innovative data-analytics system, MyStats, that allows each volunteer to understand their impact for animals.
On top of understanding our results (allowing us to make informed and strategic decisions), WTF’s top priority is building and supporting strong, resilient communities around the world. Through community-building events, professional learning and development opportunities, and a positive and professional organizational culture, WTF is revolutionizing street and online activism for animals.

At WTF events, we do not advocate for creating bigger cages or “better” methods of slaughter. There is no right way to do the wrong thing. Instead, we advocate for the basic rights of all animals to be free from exploitation and harm. We believe that when good people are shown how animals are treated, they will also seek to avoid harming them and go vegan.

As an organization, we strive to avoid engaging in controversial topics outside the realm of animal rights. Although many of these topics are important, certain issues are (and will always be) extremely divisive. By taking a strong stance one way or the other, we effectively alienate part of the animal rights community and exclude them from participating. We The Free humbly recognizes that none of us have all of the answers.
We also recognize that everyone’s individual opinions are almost always informed by the values we each hold. Therefore, we strive to focus on the values that unite us, rather than the opinions that threaten to divide us. Only by bridging these gaps can we build a strong, united, and resilient community.
