Position Overview

As a Volunteer Videographer at We The Free, you will play a major role in capturing powerful moments from our events and inspire people to get active for the animals. Working closely with the Media team, your creativity and technical skills will help to produce engaging videos that resonate with our audience. These videos will be featured in our campaigns, social media, and outreach materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Video production: Plan, shoot, and produce high-quality video content for various platforms and purposes, including campaigns, events, interviews, and social media.

  • Storytelling: Ideate with the team to develop interesting narratives and storyboards that engage viewers and evoke emotion.

  • Location scouting: Coordinate with the organizer(s) to scout the event location for factors like lighting, scenery, and accessibility, etc to optimize video production. 

  • Equipment management: Manage and maintain video equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting, and audio recording devices to ensure proper functioning during the events. 

  • Quality control - Review and ensure the quality and consistency of all video content produced by you and efficiently transfer it to the media team. 

  • Collaboration - Communicate effectively with team members to understand project requirements and objectives.

  • Feedback and Revisions - Incorporate feedback from team members and make revisions as necessary to meet project requirements.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving ability

  • Proficiency in operating video cameras, lighting, and audio recording devices.

  • Knowledge of video production techniques and best practices

  • Strong portfolio showcasing videography skills and creative vision

  • Storytelling skills and ability to convey messages through visual storytelling

  • Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for capturing compelling visuals

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines

  • Passion for animal rights and alignment with We The Free's mission

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment

  • Excellent communication skills

Time Commitment

This is a volunteer position, and we appreciate any time you can dedicate to supporting our cause. The time commitment can be flexible based on your availability and the needs of ongoing projects.

Financial Compensation

This is a voluntary position, with potential for future paid roles. Almost every paid member of the WTF team started as a volunteer initially! (Of course, a future role cannot be guaranteed)
