We are seeking a Communications Lead to oversee and streamline our communications strategy, manage our media team, and ensure cohesive messaging across our platforms. This role is pivotal in amplifying WTF’s reach and aligning our communications with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Line Management: Provide leadership and line management for the Social Media Team, including contractors and volunteers. This includes conducting annual reviews, mid-year reviews, and regular one-to-one meetings.

  • Team Meetings: Schedule, prepare for, and lead regular media team meetings to ensure alignment and productivity.

  • Inbox Management: Oversee and manage general email inboxes, social media pages, and inboxes to ensure timely and effective communication.

  • Pulse and Other Surveys: Send out pulse surveys twice per year, as well as any other necessary surveys, to gather insights and feedback for organizational growth.

  • Statements and Publications: Draft and issue statements or publications on behalf of the organization, ensuring accuracy and consistency with WTF’s messaging.

  • Annual Reports and Finance Contributions: Contribute to WTF’s annual reports and financial reporting by providing relevant data and insights from the communications team.

  • DM Automation: Manage and optimize direct message (DM) automation on our social media platforms to improve engagement and efficiency.

  • Email Templates and CRM Workflows: Create and maintain email templates and workflows on our CRM platform to support organizational goals, such as recruiting volunteers and engaging supporters.

  • Information Cascading: Ensure important updates and information from team meetings and training planning are communicated to organizer hangouts and volunteer groups effectively.

  • Community Health Processes: Assist the Community Health Team to support Community Health Processes.

Person Specification:

We’re looking for a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about animal rights and excels in communication and leadership. The ideal candidate will have experience managing teams, handling communications, and working within a nonprofit or advocacy organization.

Skills Profile:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Experience with social media strategy and management.

  • Proficiency in CRM platforms and email workflow creation.

  • Ability to analyze data and create reports to inform decision-making.

  • Skilled in project management and meeting facilitation.

  • Capacity to handle multiple priorities effectively in a remote work environment.

  • Understanding of community health and volunteer support processes.

Travel

A valid passport and permission to travel are essential for this role. You may be required to travel several times per year within your region to represent We The Free (WTF) at events, trainings, and meetings, ensuring strong regional presence and engagement. Additionally, you are required to travel internationally at least once per year to attend an annual strategy review, where global team members come together to align on goals and priorities. The ability to travel confidently and reliably is crucial to fulfilling the responsibilities of this position.
