WTF: Toronto, Canada - YORK U Collab October 24th, 2026

🚨 SPECIAL OCTOBER ACTION
We're adding an extra Save the York 9 action this month to coincide with York University's Open House. This is a valuable opportunity to reach prospective students and their families while they're learning about the university. Many York students we've spoken with had no idea primates were being experimented on at their own university. Current students deserve to know. Prospective students and their families deserve to know too. 🐒 THE YORK 9
Bento, Hannah, Kenny, Liesl, Magneto, Mini-Sass, Do, Olivia and Virginia are nine rhesus macaques used in research at York. Some have reportedly been there since 2009. We're calling on York to retire the York 9 and send them to sanctuary, while moving toward modern, human-relevant non-animal research. 📣 WHAT TO EXPECT
Organizers for Last Chance for Animals are collaborating with We The Free Toronto for this action, following a request from David Magna to organize an action during York's Open House. We'll meet at our usual location and then divide into two groups, allowing us to reach people in two high-traffic areas, including near the Open House activities. We'll have:
- Save the York 9 signs and outreach materials
- Our tablet video stations showing investigation footage
- Peaceful conversations with students and families
- Opportunities for people to learn more and take action 📅 Saturday October 24TH, 2026
⏰ 12PM-2PM
📍 Meet: TTC York University subway station entrances. Saturday's earlier timing also makes this a great opportunity to join us if our usual weekday actions don't work with your schedule. 🔒 This is a private event. Please don't publicly share the event details or screenshots in advance. *Please contact the organizers before inviting others to this event. Please keep outreach friendly and respectful and follow organizer directions so our two groups stay coordinated. Help us make sure the York 9 aren't invisible during one of York's biggest recruitment days. 🐒❤️ Learn more about this campaign and take action at: https://stopyorkprimateresearch.com
