🍇 What type of food should I bring?
Please bring a plant-based dish or snack to share if you can! You don't need to be a master chef or buy expensive specialty ingredients. Simple fruit, chips with guacamole, store-bought hummus and pita, or a plain grain salad are just as appreciated as home-cooked meals. For homemade food - a dish card listing ingredients (for those with allergies!) is also super helpful! Please ensure all dishes are completely free of meat, dairy, eggs, honey, and animal-derived ingredients and please avoid single use plastics wherever possible.
🥗 Do I have to bring food to attend?
While food sharing is part of the fun, your company is what matters most! If you’re low on funds or time, please still come - there is always plenty to go around.
🌱 I’m not vegan - can I still come?
Everyone is welcome. For many of us, veganism isn't a diet; it’s about living with respect for animals. All we ask is that the food you bring is 100% plant-based and that you come with a friendly, open-minded attitude. If you’re curious about animal ethics, plant-based living, or why we do what we do, we love having thoughtful conversations and sharing our journey.
⚽ Is there anything other than food that is good to bring?
It's not a requirement - but bringing a picnic blanket will net you instant "MVP" status. Basic sporting equipment, card games and boardgames are also great to bring!
📍 How do I find the group in the park?
We’ll post a photo of our exact spot in the discussion tab as soon as we set up on the day!
🫣 Can I come alone - will to be awkward?
Not at all! Coming alone is 100% normal and we'll have some dedicated regular members who can introduce you to a couple of friendly people right away so you don't have to navigate a group alone.
🐶 Are dogs and kids welcome?
Absolutely! Friendly dogs and kids are very welcome. Just be mindful that food will be low to the ground on picnic blankets!
🌧️ What is the plan for bad weather?
If the weather isn't cooperating - our backup plan will be Vina Vegan (395 King St, Newtown). We'll post an update in this event page of that happens.
📸 Will there be any photos taken?
We usually try to snap a few shots of the group to capture some memories and encourage more people to come to the next one! Your privacy is important to use however - so if you’d prefer not to be in any event photos, just let a host know when you arrive.
💚 What is the community safety & conduct policy?
We want everyone to feel safe, respected, and included. We have zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment, bad-faith trolling, or disrespectful behaviour of any kind. If anything makes you feel uncomfortable during the event, please come speak directly to one of our hosts.
